Learn German vocabulary

Grammar tells you how to build a German sentence; vocabulary is what you build it from. This section collects German words and phrases with their English meanings, pronunciation and an example sentence each, sorted by level.

How to use these decks

Each page explains one topic and ends with a flashcard deck. Add the deck to your own and Echoes schedules every card with the Leitner system: cards you know come back later, cards you forgot come back sooner, so your time goes to the words that actually need it.

If we correct a mistake in a card, the fix reaches everyone who has added the deck, and your review progress stays where it was.

The levels come from the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), which almost every German course and exam is built around. If you are just starting out, start with A1.
